The Lincoln Memorial | Ongoing

During the Summer of 2022, I had several big life changes that threw me out of my Street Photography routine. I knew I needed to practice in order to regain my confidence and keep my eye sharp. In order to make this process as easy as possible for myself, I decided to return to a location with ideal conditions: no stress about confrontation; lots of people on a regular basis; and several interesting backdrops with plenty of potential. This location, as you may have guessed, was the Lincoln Memorial.

While I have since moved into the city and gotten back into the habit of shooting frequently, I still enjoy returning to the monument to help hone my skills and practice things I struggle with, such as bringing the camera up to my eye and composing with the viewfinder. Check out the project!

The Dupont Farmers Market | Ongoing

I recently moved into DC for the first time, to the small and ambiguous neighborhood of Cardozo. As I adapt to city life, an exciting new ritual has begun to form in my weekly life - the Sunday morning trip to the Dupont Farmers Market. Although this DC staple has been a semi-frequent subject of my photography for years now, visiting on a weekly basis has given me a new appreciation for the event. Returning to the same place week after week has notice the small and subtle changes around me, that a more irregular visitor might never notice.

The Market is one of the busiest-per-square-foot places in the District, not including the Mall. As such, it is a fantastic opportunity to practice street photography, training one’s eye to notice moments or patterns with little risk of being confronted. I enjoy looking out for the little more intimate moments that easily get lost in the bustle, or looking for captivating visual elements such as bright colors, intriguing lighting, or the organic character of the unprocessed-looking produce.

Check out the project here!

Open Streets | November 2022

Open Streets is a recurring program in DC promoting neighborhood exploration, recreational activity, and local businesses. In November 2022, I visited the Tenleytown // Friendship Heights Signature Event, which featured over 1.5 miles of open road for cyclists and pedestrians to enjoy. There was live music, activities for kids, food stands, and lots of people, which made it quite the event to photograph. Check out my photos by clicking on the photo to the right!

Arsenal vs Everton at M&T Bank Stadium

In a rare clash of Premier League titans on the East Coast, over 40,000 fans descended on Baltimore to enjoy a pre-season friendly between Arsenal and Everton.

The Sakura Matsuri Street Festival

The Sakura Matsuri Festival is the largest one-day celebration of Japanese culture in the United States, and in April 2022 it was hosted in conjunction with the Washington DC Cherry Blossom Festival

30 Days of Black & White - 2021

After a period of significant creative block, I decided to try something new with my photography: black & white. I know, not the most radical experiment ever done, but for me it was brand new. I quickly found myself learning more about photography than I ever had before. Join me in reflecting on the experience here.

You’re Fired! - 2020

On Saturday, November 7th, 2020, Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 General Election. This victory came after 5 days of an intensely close race, which saw Biden come back from behind in several states to overturn Donald Trump’s sweep of key swing states.

Mere hours after the election was called, thousands descended on DC, not to protest or riot, vandalize or loot, but to march, sing, dance, climb, and come together - celebrating Trump’s loss as much, if not more, than Biden’s win. Americans of all age took part in the celebrations, which were spread throughout the city.

These photos show the many different ways Americans celebrated the presumed end of a tumultuous 4 years under Donald Trump.

ISO Inspo: Creativity in Quarantine - 2020

As seen in District Fray Magazine. When we first went into quarantine, most people adapted to remote working, creatives had to figure out new ways to be productive. I was inspired by all of the artists I saw and decided to put together a board of my favorites!

DC in Quarantine - 2020

An exploration of DC Street Photography during the quarantine. All photos were taken from the passenger seat of a car, as I add in a little extra social distancing to my work flow. This collection shows how Washingtonians are embracing the pandemic protocols. The result is DC as I have never seen it before.

Roma. (Book) - 2020

In 2017 I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Rome, and while searching through my old files, I discovered hundreds of photos that I haven’t seen in years. Unfortunately, Italy is one of the worst affected nations in the Covid-19 pandemic, and I decided it was fitting to dedicate my new project to a place I once called home.

“Roma.” is a depiction of what I consider the true beauty of the Eternal City. The photos don’t depict world wonders, ornate churches, or sun-kissed gardens, but rather the Rome that I came to see once I moved past the tourist-traps and Instagram landmarks: graffiti, cigarettes, and people loitering in the streets from dusk till dawn. This grittier side of Rome is what I think of when I reminisce, and is in my opinion the true character of the city.

Cape Cod: A Case Study in Color - 2020

On my recent trip to Cape Cod, I was taken away by the colorful and vibrant beach town of Provincetown. This collection of photos is my attempt at capturing some of that color and showing how the people of Provincetown fit in with their surroundings.

Le Tour (Book) - 2017

In 2017 I had the opportunity to follow the final stages of the Tour de France with my family. These photos document our journey, the places we went, the people we met, and the power and magnitude the Tour brings with it across the country of France.
